The Australian Antarctic Territory Series 50c Uncirculated Coin begins with the - Emperor Penguin and Humpback Whale. These coins are sold as a pair.

The Emperor Penguin is the largest of all penguins, growing to around a metre tall. Emperors are endemic to Antarctica and the Australian Antarctic Territory. These magnificent flightless birds feature on the new 50 cent series of coins depicting animals of the Australian Antarctic Territory. The reverse showcases a family of Emperor Penguins, with their distinctive black and yellow markings and their chick, stand on the Antarctic ice shelf by the sea. Behind them and sharing the ice are other Emperor Penguins, with their offspring. 

The second carded coin; is the Humpback Whale. Once hunted near to extinction, Humpback Whales are now a common sight off eastern and western Australia. The reverse shows a pair of Humpbacks,with calves playfully emerging and submerging in the deep blue ocean. 

Both the Emperor Penguin and Humpback Whale are of a new coin series featuring wildlife of the Antarctic and the Australian Antarctic Territory. Each coin comes in a capsule and is on an illustrated information card and has a limited mintage 25,000 coins.
