A firefighter’s eyes meet the viewer through a transparent visor, framed by a weathered helmet and a prominently raised respirator. CIT’s Firefighter turns protective equipment into a deeply modelled portrait of resolve, using colour and enhanced smartminting® ultra-high relief against a partly polished honeycomb background. The helmet bears 343, commemorating the FDNY firefighters who lost their lives during the attacks of 11 September 2001.

The second release in the Real Heroes series, following Pilot, honours both those lost on 9/11 and the firefighters who confront emergencies, bushfires and wildfires around the world. On the obverse, two firefighters direct a hose beside the Twin Towers above the inscription “ONLY THE BRAVE ARE FREE” and Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait. Limited to 911 worldwide, this 3oz silver Black Proof brings technical precision and a solemn commemorative purpose together. Remember the brave with FORTYMILLION.

Specifications

Q. What does 343 on the helmet mean?
A. It commemorates the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks.

Q. What makes the visor distinctive?
A. A transparent overlay recreates the firefighter’s visor, allowing the eyes to remain visible beneath it. It adds another layer to the raised helmet and respirator design.
