The wombat is a sturdy quadruped found in forested, mountainous and heathland areas of eastern Australia and Tasmania.
With powerful limbs and sharp flat claws, it is ideally built for digging. At up to one meter in length, it is one of the largest burrowing animals in the world.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The coin portrays a coloured representation of one of Australia’s best-known marsupials – the wombat. As well as the inscription ‘WOMBAT’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the reverse includes the coin’s weight, purity and 2023 year-date.
The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of her reign and the monetary denomination.
The Wombat 2023 1oz Silver Coloured Coin is presented in a themed presentation card.
