Standing up to 1.9 metres tall, the flightless emu is Australia’s largest bird. Males are known to defend their young, driving predators away by kicking their long, powerful legs, which are also used to propel these birds across the continent’s dry plains at remarkable speeds up to 50km an hour.
The coin’s coloured reverse portrays an adult emu and three chicks in an arid outback setting. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’ and a ‘P125’ mintmark appear within the design. The coin’s obverse depicts the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
The Australian Emu 2024 1oz Silver Coloured Coin is presented in a classic display case with a clear acrylic lid within a themed shipper and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity
