A top-hatted rabbit sits before a wide-eyed magician while a gilded mechanical lion strides across the stage behind them. Carnival, CIT’s fifth main-series Steampunk design, turns a circus backstage into a densely detailed mechanical fantasy. Gold highlights the magician’s waistcoat, the rabbit’s costume and the strongman’s articulated arm against antiqued silver, while smartminting® ultra-high relief gives the performers sculptural depth.
A tightrope performer, gramophone, violin and scattered mechanical details reward a closer look across the 50 mm design. There is humour in the rabbit’s solemn expression and the strongman Harry’s improbable machinery, balanced by the intricate workmanship of the scene. King Charles III’s portrait appears within the series’ gear-and-pipework obverse. Struck from 3oz of .9999 silver and limited to 888 worldwide, Carnival offers a miniature theatre in precious metal. Step behind the curtain at FORTYMILLION.

Q. What is steampunk?
A. It is a science-fiction style that imagines futuristic inventions through Victorian-era machinery. Here, gears and mechanical enhancements transform a traditional circus into a fantastical scene.
Q. What does ultra-high relief mean?
A. Elements of the design rise prominently above the background, giving the magician, rabbit and other circus figures a sculptural appearance.
Q. Is the whole coin gilded?
A. No. Gilding highlights selected details, including the mechanical lion and parts of the performers’ costumes, contrasting with the antiqued silver.
Q. Where does Carnival fit in the Steampunk series?
A. It is the fifth main-series design, following Steampunk (2020), Jet Pack (2021), Nautilus (2022) and Science Lab (2023), and preceding Aviation (2025). The range also includes kilo editions of Steampunk (2021), Jet Pack (2023) and Science Lab (2025).
Q. Is the series’ penny-farthing motif included?
A. Yes. A small penny-farthing detail is tucked into the design, continuing the recurring motif from other Steampunk releases.
Q. How many were issued, and what is included?
A. The worldwide mintage is 888. The coin comes in a presentation case with a certificate of authenticity.
