- yin yang symbol
Thousands of years old, the Chinese lunar calendar measures time based on the cycles of the moon. Influential in the decisions and beliefs of millions, the lunar calendar is associated with many myths and legends - including The Great Race, in which 12 animals race each other to determine their zodiac position.
This coin portrays the 12 lunar animals in colour and includes representations of sacred mountains, clouds symbolising good fortune, and plants including bamboo, daisies, sunflowers, peonies and pine trees, which are longstanding floral motifs in traditional Chinese art. The lunar animals surround a bagua with a black and white yin yang symbol in the middle.
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is housed in a leatherette display case and stylized shipper.
