Made from 1 kilo of .9999 pure silver this impressive Year of the Tiger coloured coin features a 1 gram pure gold privy mark insert. This flawlessly struck coin is a rare release with only 388 minted and is Australian Legal Tender. The third animal in the Chinese lunar calendar is portrayed in vivid colour and enshrines the character for ‘tiger’ in pure gold. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity comes with the coin as does a classic display case with a clear lid, and an illustrated cardboard shipper. When aligned with shippers from other coins in Series III, the resulting diorama depicts all 12 animals participating in The Great Race, a traditional Chinese story about the creation of the lunar calendar. First issued in 1996, the Australian Lunar Coin Series celebrates the animals of the Chinese ancient lunar zodiac with a annual designs portraying the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The lunar tiger is said to bestow courage, confidence and charm on those born under its influence in 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and 2022.
