In 2000 to celebrate the Protected Nature Series, the Turkish State Mint in conjunction with MDM of Germany released a very Limited Issue Asio Otus Owl 50,000,000 Lira Gold Proof Coin struck in solid .750 Gold with two Diamond's set in the Owl's eye's. The reverse depicts a Long Eared Owl while the obverse features the denomination and date. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
